About Our Founder

My first publication was a poetry collection. I didn't know how to publish a book, and I was overwhelmed by all the steps it would take to learn how. I only knew that I wanted to write. I was clueless about formatting, cover design, self-publishing websites, beta readers, and how to get reviews before publishing.

That book sold ten copies, all bought by family and friends.

Shortly after, I took a job as a romance ghostwriter and was quickly taught more about the publishing world. I was promoted five times in three months and climbed my way to the role of editor. I learned how to review and critique wonderful, detailed works from various writers and scan novels for any inconsistencies. I was also given the opportunity to take a story from just an idea in my head to plotting it on paper, overseeing the writers who worked on it, and editing the full manuscript once they were done. Seeing an idea of mine from start to finish being worked on by amazing writers was a dream come true.

But I wanted more. I wanted to write my own books, have my own business, and create an environment for writers to learn and thrive. After leaving that company, I wrote my own paranormal romance novel and used the tools I gained from my experience as a ghostwriter to accomplish all the steps I was clueless about before.

That book has now sold countless copies in six different countries.

I founded Self Care for Authors shortly after releasing that publication. It is my mission to help other writers achieve their dreams while hopefully lifting some of the stress I experienced when I first learned about self-publishing.

We at Self Care for Authors believe writers should lift each other up. We are not each other's competition but support. Welcome to Self Care for Authors; we are so glad you are here.
